Beauty | My Pregnancy Skincare Routine

Hello there! Hope everyone is having/had a fab January! Thank goodness it's almost over though, it's definitely one of those months that just seems to last forever, and when you have animals and horses it is one of the worst months there just seems to be rain, mud and grey skies everywhere. Oh and wind no one likes that thing either. Hurry up spring, you are very much wanted now.

I thought I would do a post on my pregnancy skincare routine. Can't lie, to some of you it might be rather simple and boring but I've found since being pregnant this so called 'pregnancy glow' does not exist or is still trying to find me! I've not had an easy pregnancy, can't say I'm enjoying it either but I know the end goal will be worth it!

Instead of this so called glowing skin I seem to have found dry, spotty skin. Thanks little thing in my belly I hope your glowing inside there! Firstly the majority of my pregnancy has been spent either being sick or feeling sick so a skincare routine has not always been at the top of my list, but seen as they go on about how you should look after yourself when your pregnant I have been trying harder recently. Also don't want to scare the little thing when he pops out my belly and see's a scary looking mum so thought I should try and improve the look for him a bit.

I've found my skin has become super sensitive in this pregnancy, it seems to react to everything. The joys of hormones hey! I've tried sticking to fairly basic products that don't seem to make me look worse. I'm also using the products my mum has been using since forever because thought I should probably take more of the mum approach now, plus she seems to have great skin in her late 40's so something must be working.

The first product I have been using is No7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing lotion. I have this one in the normal/dry version which is also hypo-allergenic. I use my cleansing lotion as my first step of my skincare routine. Sorry I have no fancy new unused bottle to take a picture of, thought a half used one is more of a reality. This product seems to work great at removing all of my daily grub off my face, and it's nice and gentle to. The other plus is that it doesn't really smell of much which is great as those pregnancy hormones make everything smell like rubbish and make those gag reflexes kick in so this has definitely been one of my go to products. It's easy to use too just put a blob on one of those round pad things (names gone silly baby brain) rub round your face gently and jobs done! I try and use this morning and night but the reality is that once a day is a bonus and it seems to help calm down my face and make me feel better.

The second product I use in my skincare routine is the No7 Soft and Soothed  Gentle Toner. This one is also hypo-allergenic. Again apologise for no fancy unused bottle but again thats not always the reality plus life is hectic getting ready for the new arrival. I use this after the cleansing lotion and it really helps to soothe my skin and makes me feel refreshed. The other great thing about this is that it also does not have a strong smell if any smell which is a big bonus if your pregnant. Those smelly products just don't smell nice at the moment.

The final product I use in my skincare routine is the No7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream. Again this is also hypo-allergenic and this has the added bonus of also having SPF 15 in it. Remember you should also put on some sun protection even when it's dull and cloudy. Apparently your skin will thank you in years to come but can't give you my opinion on that seen as I only have 22yr old skin at the moment. I love this moisturiser as it is nice and thick and as my skin seems to have gone lovely and dry (thanks again pregnancy hormones) it helps to put the moisture back in my face and makes it feel all lovely and smooth again.

This blog post photo is a Robin one today as he was feeling in the mood to pose for the camera and well you can't say no to those eyes!

Hope you are all well and jolly :)

Lifestyle | Where have I been?

Well hey strangers! It's certainly been a long while or should I say a few years even! Apparently life can get very busy and well take up all your time. My blog definitely took a back seat whilst I've been traveling around the world (that's a lie but sounds cool), whilst I've been travelling around my bubble as I like to call it! I'm not sure where to start with filling you all in with what I've been up to otherwise I could be writing this post for years but I'll try and do a brief summary for you all!

What exciting things have you all been up to over the past couple years?

So let's begin.....

First I moved house which I mentioned before. Then I bought my own home with my now husband (yes someone was mad enough to marry me). We then spent what felt like forever doing it up and decorating it and making it look lovely, which it is. However I then decided that it was all too much for me to be living in my own home thanks to my aspergers and was just too much for me to cope with so we are now much to my parents excitement (or not) back living at theirs. But not just Jack, Barney and me, also an incredibly annoying but lovely cocker spaniel named Robin oh and if that wasn't enough a soon to be newborn baby as I'm now pregnant! You can probably imagine how thrilled they are to have us back and their peace and quiet taken away!

So yeah in the past couple of years I've managed to gain another dog to the collection, he is awesome but beyond annoying and incredibly lively! Basically the dog version of me; drive you mad most of the time but the cuteness and the character makes you love us! As lovely as it is having two dogs I'm not sure how mum and dad feel as it means there are currently 4 in the house as they have two of their own; we are not short of dog hair to say the least! I've included below a picture of me dancing with Robin on my wedding day as everyone dances with their dog at their wedding!

Aswell as the added addition of a dog I got married last April! It was by far the best day of my life so far as I married my best friend Jack who is currently snoring next to me so thought I would write this post! I'm planning on doing some blog posts on my wedding day and about how I made it autism friendly.

And then just because I'm someone who loves change and being busy (haha biggest joke yet) Jack and I decided to start a family. We are expecting our first baby in April this year!!! Not long to go now! We are incredibly excited although I can't lie I'm not enjoying this whole being pregnant thing. I'm also planning on doing some posts on pregnancy and then baby posts too so if thats not for you sorry you'll have to skip those ones. The bad quality image below is of our small human despite the fact he looks more like an alien at 16 weeks old. He is now a lot bigger and so am I!

And as always I will continue to do a Barney photo at the end of my posts, although to spice things up a bit I'm going to alternate them between Barney and Robin as I can't be seen to be favouring one or the other! The one below for this post is them pulling Jack and I out of the church!

Hope you are all well and jolly :)

Lifestyle | Things that make me smile :)

Hello there :) How is everyone today! Hope you are all fine and dandy! Really not long till christmas now, I am literally super excited! Who else is excited or do you think it's to early for christmas? I'm desperate to wear one of my christmas jumpers but jack keeps telling me he will be grumpy if I do, so thats a no go as then the only way of making him not grumpy would be feeding him and well he eats a lot and thats effort to cook haha! Sorry Jack :P

Some exciting news, well maybe not exciting for you but I'm super excited and happy about it, I am coming off one of medications! Yippee! So I thought I would share my excitement on here :) Mental Health is something that should be talked about more and made an easier topic of conversation! I'm so grateful for my lovely family and supportive boyfriend for helping me :) So yeah I guess that is one thing that makes me smile.

I think it's important to write down or remember the things that make you smile so that if you are having a more of a frown day than a smiley day you can look back at the things that do make you happy in the hope of turning that frown upside down. I'm incredibly lucky and have a lot of things and people around me that make me smile so I thought I would share with you guys :)

Okay so animals make me smile, how can they not when they are so cute, especially dogs! My grandparents have recently got this adorable little puppy Kimmy and well she is just beautiful and so cuddly! She is a proper andrex puppy. I don't know about you guys but I love the smell of puppies so spend a lot of time smelling her! Promise I'm not weird.

My ponies always make me smile, I'm fortunate enough to have them at home now and there is nothing better than waking up in the morning and seeing there little faces or in daisy's case her big face peering over their stable doors or going and giving them goodnight kisses. These are little things but always make me smile and I'm incredibly grateful for having them in my life :)

My brother makes me smile, I can't believe I'm actually writing this but he does, well a lot of the time anyway. We have are arguments but what siblings don't hey! He makes me smile because he has turned into a lovely young man. He went to uni in September and I miss him a lot more than I thought I would but he was kind enough to bless us with his company last weekend for dad's birthday which was a lovely surprise.

Okay now I'm about to be soppy so if your not into that stuff then skip this bit! One of the things well people that makes me smile the most is Jack! He is the most supportive and kind boyfriend I could ask for and he has made me in to a much better and happier person. I'm so lucky to have him in my life, I never really believed that you could find your perfect match but then I met mine :) So I guess that is something worth smiling about everyday. He even manages to make me smile when he farts although I usually do have to reach for the gas mask!

The Barney photo today is one of him, Jack and Kimmy. Barney loves both of them, Jack seems to think Barney loves him more than me but I think he is just trying to wind me up! Barney always makes me smile, just looking at his cute face does :)

What things make you smile?

Hope you are all well and jolly :)

Holkham Beach Photoshoot

Hello there :) How is everybody today?! Can you believe we are in November now? Where has the year gone?! Time just flies by when you are having fun or when you get older haha! Guess what only 7 more Monday's till christmas! Yay I hear you all shout, or not depends whether you are christmas mad or bah humbug! I am definitely christmas mad, already watched one christmas film and yes I am proud to say the christmas pjs have made their first appearance!

I've been bad at the whole blogging thing again recently sorry fellow readers I will try and make it up to you with more blog posts before christmas although I can't promise that they won't be christmas based!

Recently I was given an amazing opportunity to go along to a photoshoot and be the makeup artist. As I have only recently this year qualified as a makeup artist and am in the process of trying to build up my own business this was an amazing opportunity. It was all done for free but in return I get the photographs which I can use in my portfolio which is great as good photographs are so important to have in your portfolio especially professional ones.

The thing that made this shoot so exciting for me was that it was a bridal/wedding themed photoshoot which is what my passion is, bridal makeup and hair. I also just love everything about weddings, there is just something about them that is so magical and lovely, I cannot wait till I have my own wedding to plan and have (secretly I have it already planned but thats being at wedding fayres for you). The couple in the photoshoot were already married, they got married two years ago and are still very much in love, which is a good thing haha so were happy to dress up again for the shoot. They were such a lovely couple it was a pleasure to work with them.

There were a number of local businesses that were involved in this shoot, all for free again as we were basically helping each other out and trying to promote our services. There was a cake maker who made the most amazing wedding cake I have seen, a florist who produced some beautiful bouquets of flowers, a stylist who helped set the scene, provide the props and design the table for the photographs, me the makeup artist and the lovely photographer who has produced some amazing photographs, I just can't help but love her work!

We were incredibly lucky and had a beautiful day for the shoot so hopefully there will be some fantastic photographs as Holkham beach in Norfolk is such a unspoilt natural beach. I will share the professional photos with you guys when I get them but until then I thought I would share with you the ones I took so you could see a bit of what we got up to :)

We looked normal walking along the beach with a chair!

The Barney photo today is one of Barney and Katie as well they are just both so cute and this one looks like they have taken a selfie which makes me chuckle!

Hope you are all well and Jolly :)

Lifestyle | Barney's week in photos

Hello there :)

Howdy! How is everyone today? Hope is all fine and dandy! I love the word howdy reminds me of Toy Story and makes me feel like a cowboy well cowgirl as I'm not a boy but you know what I mean! Did anyone see the solar eclipse thingy? I don't really understand what it is to be honest, I didn't see anything either, it was far too cloudy where I was! If anything it just went a bit colder and maybe a bit darker but who knows that could have just been me I do feel the cold! It's the weekend YAY! I hope you guys are all having a lovely jubbly one :)

I've just tried to tidy my room which I'm rubbish at so I thought I would have a break! Most of the things on my floor are Barney's toys!! He has so many and he gets them all out and leaves them all over the place for me to trip over or stand on! He is so kind. I asked him to help tidy up but apparently being a dog is hard work and sleep is more important as he is fast asleep! He also didn't reply to me when I asked him to help as dogs can't talk.

Anyway I'm pretty much obsessed with my dog and he is just so photogenic.  I am constantly taking photos of him so I thought I would share some with you!

He looks like he is smiling in this one!

He loves to shake right next to us just incase we wanted to get wet too! Silly Dog!

Walking with Katie dog, Kirstie (my mum) and me are some of Barney's favourite things to do!

Barney is the best thing to ever happen to me, I don't know where I would be without him! Dog's really are the best friends going!

Hope you are all well and jolly :)

Review | MAC Pink Pearl Pop Lipstick

Hello there :)

How is everyone today? Hope you have all had lovely weekends, and if you have had the amazing sun and warm weather we have I hope you have been able to make the most of it. If you haven't had any sun I shall send some your way :) I swear the weeks seem to go by quicker and quicker I don't know where this week has gone! I've been working everyday this week which has been great as it has given me something to do but it's fair to say I'm knackered now so can't wait to curl up in bed later!

So today's post is another beauty post because why not!  Okay I know it's another review of a MAC lipstick, you are probably all bored of seeing MAC lipstick reviews but they are just so great it's hard not to review them, and well they are kind of an all time favourite for everybody! MAC lipstick reviews seem to pop up all the time in the blogging community so I thought I would jump on the band wagon and do one because why not join in hey! Some of you might be big fans of these reviews so are probably over the moon right now (slight exaggeration). If this is you then welcome, keep on reading, however if this isn't you well it would still be nice for you to keep on reading but not to worry if not! If we all liked the same things life would be very boring.

I had never really heard about MAC lipsticks or MAC in general till about 9 months ago, and oh my I wish I had found out about them sooner because not only have I fallen in love with them but Mumma M has too! We are both hooked so have started to build up a little collection together because sharing is caring or something like that!

Anyway my latest addition  to the collection is the gorgeous Pink Pearl Pop! Which is a shade that I had not heard of before I stumbled across it at a MAC counter. This could be an incredibly popular colour that I'm just a bit slow to find out about or just one of those ones that you happen to stumble across. Either way I'm so glad I stumbled across this shade because I absolutely love it, infact it's probably my favourite lipstick at the moment especially as it's such a perfect colour for spring!

Pink Pearl Pop is a bright pink cremesheen lipstick which leaves a really pretty finish. When I first saw this I was a little bit put off by the colour as it is so bright, but once I swatched it I fell in love. As it is a cremesheen the brightness is not overpowering. It gives a warm pink sheen tint to the lips and doesn't look unnatural. I'm not very good at describing looks and colours so I do apologise. It's sort of your perfect barbie pink doll colour that once on your lips looks almost neutral pink (because it's a cremesheen). It's a really cute colour that works well with a number of different looks even a smokey eye and would be a great go to lipstick for a spring/summer makeup look. So if you are looking for a new lipstick to add to your spring makeup collection then I definitely recommend Pink Pearl Pop or if you just fancy a new lipstick then this one is worth checking out :)

What is your current favourite lipstick?

The Barney picture today is another one of him on one of our sunny walks this week! I love this photo as it looks like he is smiling! He is such a little cutie at times, he is also a great poser for the camera. He has enjoyed some lovely long walks this week in the sun, hopefully this lovely weather will continue. I'm just about to give him pilchards in tomato sauce for his dinner as a Sunday night treat as it's his favourite.

Hope you are all well and jolly :)

Mini Homeware Haul #2

Hello there :)

How are you all?! Hope all is fine and dandy and that you have had a super weekend! Have any of you done anything exciting? I've been working and sleeping, the sleeping has been the best bit, my bed is just so comfortable I never want to leave it, in fact beds in general are comfy, who ever invented them thank you so much for creating such an incredible thing!

So I asked someone I work with today what animal they would be if they had the choice, and they said a unicorn, I'd be a dog in a good home :) what would you guys be?

Recently I have been collecting a couple of little bits and bobs for my room as my dad kindly rearranged my room which means I have been on the hunt for things to complete the room. I also love homeware, it's all just so pretty. Where's your favourite place to shop for homeware?

I'm obsessed with candles at the moment ever since I overcame my fear of them and now seem to be buying them and candle related things all the time at the moment. Near where we stayed in Wales recently there was this massive Waitrose, it was so exciting we went there pretty much everyday and the even better thing about this particular Waitrose was that it had a good sized homeware section in it, I like to describe it as a mini John Lewis section it was so cool. Anyway they had lots of cute bits and bobs at some great prices with one of them even being reduced so I couldn't resist.

The first thing I picked up was a super cute candle holder, well I think it was a candle holder and that's what I have used it for anyway but I'm sure you could use it for whatever you wanted, it would probably make a nice pen holder too! It makes an amazing pattern when you have a candle in it which is one of the things I love about it.

The other thing I picked up from the amazing Waitrose was some fake flowers. I have been after some for ages but have never found the right ones at a good price so when I saw these I fell in love and even more so when I found out they were reduced. I love flowers but only tend to have them in my room when my Dad is cute and buys them for me (which is rare) so I wanted some that would look nice all the time so thought some fake flowers would be the perfect addition for brightening up my room :)

I recently bought my first Yankee candle and my Dad is a bit of a yankee candle expert (well he likes to think he is) so he lent me a yankee candle topper as apparently they help the candle to burn evenly. There are loads of different ones you can get and whilst I was away I came across a pink one and as I love everything pink I thought it would be perfect for my yankee candle. When your candle is alight it produces a lovely pattern on the wall, which looks really pretty.

I recently went into this really pretty shop full of lots of lovely homeware bits and bobs and came across a little dish with a some lovely words in it. It says Enjoy all the little things in life as one day you look and realise they were the big things.  I love sayings like this as I think it's important to always think about the positives so thought this would be great dish to store my rings and earrings in.

These drink jars have become really popular recently, I've seen them on lots of blogs and in magazines. They are great for putting smoothies and cocktails in or if your boring like me just water.  The thing I love about these are that they aren't like a normal glass which makes them quite fun to drink out of and well they are just a bit different.

The Barney photo today is another one of him in Wales. He is currently lying at my feet fast asleep after having a bone although he is now producing some horrible smells. Smelly dog!! We went for a lovely 6 mile walk the other day which Barney loved!

Hope you are all well and jolly :)

The Liebster award

liebsteraward-e1423111492432-300x268

Helloo there :)

As you can already guess by the picture today's post is the Liebster Award which I was kindly nominated for by Agne. Thank you so much for nominating me, this post definitely seems like a bit of fun :) The Liebster Award was created as a way for people to discover new blogs :)

The rules are as follows:

1. Thank the person who nominated you and leave their link
2. Answer the questions from the person who nominated you
3. Nominate between 5 and 11 bloggers who have less than 200 followers
4. Create 11 new questions for the people who you have nominated to answer
5. Let your nominees know that you have nominated them

Below are the questions that Agne gave me and my answers to them:

1. What is your most embarrassing memory of a lifetime?

Whenever I get asked questions like this I always forget everything. The most embarrassing memory I can remember is a recent one. I went for a day trip to Go Ape with a friend and they have these zip wire type things that you use to get down from the trees on. When you get to the bottom you are meant to land on your feet only I didn't I landed backwards on my bum and this caused not only my trousers to be pulled down but also my pants! It was rather embarrassing to say the least! Especially as I then had to walk round with bark in my pants for the rest of the course.

2. Favourite breakfast and Lunch dishes?

Now this one is an easy one to answer as I LOVE breakfast! I would eat breakfast all day everyday if I could. My favourite breakfast however and I have it everyday is Weetabix Minis the chocolate ones mixed with some all bran and milk of course. I'm not a big fan of lunch so I don't have a favourite lunch dish.

3. The best cosmetic brand for you is

This is a hard one as I love so many different brands for different reasons. It's a tough one but I think it would have to be MAC as that's where the largest section of my make up comes from.

4. Family or career? And why?

Now I'm a big family person so of course family first as that's just the way I am and family will always be the most important thing for me as they have been there through everything and they are incredibly supportive.

5. If you could choose between living a celebrity life or an ordinary people life, what would you choose?

I have thought about this lots before, but I think I would always choose an ordinary life as I like to do things in certain ways and I'm not sure you would be able to do normal everyday things if you where famous. Having to deal with press and hate etc would drive me mad too. Although I wouldn't mind being a celebrity for one day just to see what it feels like.

6. Imagine meeting your idol and you could ask just one question. What would you ask him/her?

I don't really have idols but the person who I most look up to is my mum so I would ask her what I was having for dinner.

7. Why did you start blogging?

This is a great question! I started blogging as I wanted somewhere that I could write down what I'm thinking and share with people the things I do and don't like. I also love taking photographs and a blog is a great way to share them. Another reason was my Aspergers syndrome, I wanted to write posts to help others who might be in a similar situation to me.

8. The best movie you have ever seen?

Without a doubt my favourite movie ever is ELF! I love this film to pieces and I can't tell you how many times I have watched it and it never seems to get boring and always makes me laugh.

9. What is your dream job?

My dream job is to be retired! This is what I used to tell my teachers what I wanted to do when I left school. I'm not retired but the dream is still there! If I could have any job in the world I would love to be an airline pilot, I always wanted to do this when I was younger and have flown a couple of times and loved it however my medication unfortunately means I'm not able to fly but it doesn't stop it being my dream job.

10. Three things you can't live without

The first thing I couldn't live without would be Barney of course! My dog is my best friend, I hate being away from him for even a couple of hours. The 2nd thing I couldn't live without is my mum, I don't know what I would do without her she is always there to pick me up when I'm down and she is unbelievably supportive. The 3rd thing I couldn't live without is chocolate milkshakes! I'm obsessed with chocolate milkshakes I have one everyday where ever I am.

11. What can you wish for other bloggers?

I wish that other bloggers are able to get everything out of their blog that they want to and that it is something they love doing :)

The questions for my nominees are:

1. What is your favourite colour?
2. What noise does a giraffe make?
3. What's your favourite pudding?
4. If you could travel to anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
5. What's your favourite animal?
6. What's your favourite candle?
7. What's your favourite TV programme?
8. What is your favourite season; summer, spring, autumn or winter? And why?
9. What is your favourite way to relax and De-stress?
10. What's the best joke you know?
11. If you could be any celebrity for one day who would you be and why?

My nominees are:

Hope you guys enjoy this it's good fun :) make sure that you all check out each others blogs and pass this on as it's a great way for new bloggers to get their blogs out there a bit more and a great way to find new blogs!

As usual hope you are all well and jolly :)

My go to shoes

Helloo there :)

How are you all today? I hope you are all fine and dandy and that you had a great weekend! Did you get up to anything exciting? I spent most of my time working, sleeping, watching Call the Midwife (does anyone watch that?!) and taking part in the bloggers chats that were on over the weekend. Did any of you take part in the bloggers chat's this weekend on twitter?! If so which ones?

Instead of the typical go to make up looks etc I thought I would be a bit different and do a post about my go to shoes. Thought it's nice to do something a little different and well I hope you guys will enjoy reading this one. Let me know what you think :)

So like most girls out there I LOVE shoes, like make up and clothes I think you can never have too many shoes. There is always a new pair that will look great in your wardrobe right?! Over time I have collected a number of shoes and today I want to share with you my favourites, my go to ones, the ones I can't live without you get where I'm coming from! I will warn you now though, there are no heels or sandles in this collection. No heels because I can't walk in them and find them uncomfortable so don't see the point in getting them when I can have my feet firmly and comfortably on the ground in a nice flat pair of shoes. No sandles because well I hate feet! I don't know what it is about them but I hate them! They give me the creepy crawlies, all feet even my own! I will even not use public swimming pools because of the feet and well because I don't want to swim past a plaster eww yuck! Sometimes in the summer when I'm feeling brave and my feet are tanned and my toes are painted I wear sandles but usually only when I'm on holiday. I obviously also wear flip flops by the pool on holiday otherwise I would boil but again toes have to be painted and my theory is that because I'm out in the open and so is everyone else feet are clean. Weird theory that doesn't make sense I know but that's just me :)

My face at the thought of feet!!!

Now to some of you my go to shoes may look well rather boring and bland but I love them to pieces! I love pretty little ballet pumps etc but it seems to be that my go to shoes seem to be of more of a bland colour, maybe it's the time of the year, perhaps I will do a summer go to shoe collection who knows.

UGG boots!! Who doesn't love them?! I certainly love them to pieces, I constantly wear them in the winter especially when it's chilly as they keep my toes all nice and warm.

Timberland boots! These have become incredibly popular over the past couple of years again! I think they must have been popular when I was a young kid as well as I remember owning a pair and thinking I was the coolest kid about. I treated myself to a pair last year again and they are just so comfortable and water proof which for me as a dog owner is great!

Now these shoes are known as deck shoes and these particular ones are the Chatham Deck Lady.  I find them so comfortable to wear and their colour means that they go with most my outfits perfect. I have a similar style by the same make in pink too but they mainly only come out in the summer. These are not to everyone's taste I will admit that but I'm a country girl and well these are just up my street.

My go to trainers are my Nike blazers. I love trainers always have done probably always will do they are just so comfy and I love the material and the style of the Nike blazers. I have a couple of the high top ones as well but these have to be my favourite.

I have a little bit of a thing about plimsolls too. I love them with a pair of jeans or shorts or even a dress or skirt, you can pretty much make them work with anything and again they are comfortable. Shoes being comfortable is a big thing for me.

Dubarry Boots. What can I say about these apart from they are my pride and joy. I spent my first ever pay check on these and 3 years down the line still have no regrets. I never used to be a fan of long boots until I had these probably because I have short legs and could never find a comfortable pair, but these boots changed my whole opinion of them. Now they are a countryside boot so would probably appeal more to those looking for that type of boot but I wear them everywhere even out for dinner. Give them a good clean and theses boots can look rather smart.
